Stark disillusionment followed the sport successes and accolades of Sibu’s high school years. He unexpectedly needed major surgery after tearing ligaments in his knee. 

After 6 long months of hospitalisation plus intensive physio rehabilitation, before Sibu could get back to his life. 

But his reality had changed completely. Being immobile, he was no longer active and able to keep fit. Frustration turned into boredom. Which resulted in eating. Far too much. 

Sibu slowly gained weight that took him from one bigger clothes size to the next. This was a downward spiral for a young man who’d been so immersed in sport. 

Today, at 34, his life has definitely improved for the better. Getting married filled Sibu with hope again. Becoming the parents of 2, completed his family’s happiness. And Sibu has found countless new reasons to feel grateful for each day. 

New commitments made Sibu realise the importance of ensuring our families’ financial security in a future where we will no longer be able to. 

Applying for life and funeral cover at various companies, Sibu was repeatedly declined due to his weight.
