About the AllLife executives.
Ross has SA and international experience in the financial services industry. He worked in corporate finance for Legg Mason Wood Walker (US investment bank), before returning to SA to join Theta Group Limited in 1998 as Finance Executive. In 2002, in conjunction with an investment partner, he founded Theta Specialised Finance (Pty) Ltd, which he exited at the end of 2003.
Michael Blain has a B Comm, B Acc and MBA from The University of the Witwatersrand. He is a chartered accountant CA(SA) and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP). He completed his articles at KPMG in Johannesburg before transferring to KPMG in Hartford, Connecticut for a two-year secondment. On returning to South Africa in 1995, he joined Commercial Union Life where he was AGM Finance and Special Projects. He joined PSG Anchor Life as Financial Director and then Nova Group in 2000 as a business development executive. He was appointed CEO of Centriq Insurance in 2005 to oversee the merger of Nova and Santam Risk Finance to form Centriq Group. In 2012 he was appointed Managing Director of Altrisk (Pty) Ltd where he oversaw the integration of this business into Hollard Life. He joined AllLife in December 2014 to head up the South African business operations.
Dr Avron Urison
Dr Urison has local and international experience as a clinician and a healthcare consultant. He was CEO at MRI (Medical Rescue International) Criticare and in 2002, started consulting to the healthcare industry in SA, with a particular focus on HIV/AIDS clinical and management programmes.
Michael has local and international experience as a strategy consultant. He was a Process Industry Risk Specialist for International Risk Control Africa. For the next 6 years, he was at McKinsey & Company, where he focused on operations, commercial functions, organisational design, corporate finance & international business. Michael joined AllLife as Business Development Director in 2006.
After completing articles David joined Wetherlys as their Financial Director. David continued his career in furniture retail when he joined Coricraft, originally as the operations director and then Managing Director. David also spent time at Bakos Brothers and Kyalami Schools before joining AllLife in September 2016.
Paul has over 6 years of experience as a management consultant with both McKinsey & Company and Partners in Performance, serving clients in the mining, logistics and financial services sectors. He served for 3 years as the South African Country Director of TechnoServe, an international non-profit providing business solutions to poverty. In 2009, he founded Talented Africa, a non-profit enterprise that has provided training, mentorship and virtual incubation support to over 150 micro-businesses in the informal sector.
After completing her articles, Alex started her career as an attorney specialising in Employment Law. Alex left law and joined AllLife in November 2013 to pursue a broader set of career objectives across Human Capital including Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Recruitment, Employee Engagement and Internal Communications.
Ally started her career at Old Mutual working on both marketing and strategy. She joined McKinsey & Company in 2010 and spent 5 years working with local and international companies in retail, FMCG and financial services on research and strategy. Ally joined AllLife in May 2015.
Nadia Statham is a Chartered Accountant CA(SA) with a B Comm Hons Accounting and M Comm in Financial Management from the Rand Afrikaans University and Univeristy of Johannesburg. She completed her articles at Deloitte and remained a manager for 1.5 years after a secondment to the USA. After Deloitte she joined a listed mid-tier mining company for 7.5 years, starting as the Group Financial Controller and ending off as 2IC to the Group Chief Financial officer as Group financial manager and Shared services manager for Sub-saharan Africa.
She joined AllLife at the end of September 2015.
Simone Van Niekerk
Simone has over 18 years’ experience in call and contact centre environments and 9 years Insurance experience. Simone has worked in various local and global companies such as AIG, Tracker and LiquidCapital. Simone joined AllLife in March 2015.
Peter was a partner at Deloitte in the Tax Division, specialising in corporate income tax. He joined Nedcor in 1991 in the tax department of Management Services Division, before becoming Head of the Corporate Banking Division. Pete was then appointed MD & Director of Retail and Wealth Management (responsible for Nedbank, Old Mutual Bank, Pick ‘n Pay Go Banking, wealth-management & insurance/assurance-related businesses.) Pete joined Halls in September 2004 to take up the role of Executive Chairman. In August 2006 Pete stepped down as Executive Chairman, allowing him to focus his attention on developing the company’s recent investments in the financial services and pharmaceutical industries. Pete joined AllLife as a Non-Executive Director in 2007.
Rob qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1984 and served articles with Ernst and Young. Rob has spent several decades heading up finance teams in the contracting, engineering, manufacturing and construction environments, mostly in a Financial Director capacity, and he has a particular interest in risk and governance processes. He is currently a member of the Johannesburg Audit Committee Forum and is on Boards and Committees of several companies.
Gary joined LeapFrog Investments in January 2008 as a Partner. LeapFrog Investments launched the world’s first micro-insurance fund in 2009, investing in businesses that provide insurance to low-income and vulnerable people in Africa and Asia. Gary currently serves as non-executive Vice-Chairman of a leading non-profit social services organisation. He co-founded Investment Solutions, South Africa’s largest multi-manager with $18 billion under management. He was also Joint MD of Alexander Forbes Financial Services and was appointed to the Board of the Alexander Forbes Group. Gary joined AllLife as a Non-Executive Director in 2010.
Pete is an independent strategy consultant who over the past 25 years Pete has consulted to more than 170 organizations across 4 continents. After an initial career in human capital and marketing Pete moved into an executive roles with Olin and later Schwartzkopf. He left the corporate role in 1991 to start his own strategic consultancy. Between 1997 and 2004 Peter rejoined the corporate world holding executive positions as Managing Director of Hollard Life and later joined Liberty Life as Managing Director of Insurance Operations. Pete returned to his consultancy business in 2005.
